JD Hudgins Ranch Tour
July 11th
9 AM - 3 PM
214 E Railroad St, East Bernard, TX 77435
We will meet at Fort Bend County Fairgrounds (4310 TX-36 S, Rosenburg, TX 77471) in the outer parking lot and the bus will leave at 9:00am.
In the early 1900’s, as the JD Hudgins family searched for a type of cattle which would thrive in the heat and parasites of the harsh Gulf Coast area, they turned their interest to the few humped Indian cattle which were available at the time. Come out an experience not only one of the ranches to help start the first livestock show at HLSR in 1932, but one that through the importation of Brahman-type cattle from Brazil helped shape the American Brahman as it is today.
We will also discuss the grazing technology that they are implementing to better manage their ranch land and reduce their use of fertilizers as well as other technology they are bringing into their operation.
